MiC LEAD Communicators™ — Strengthening Communication

This program focuses on the transition from individual contributor to people leader—a shift that challenges even the most talented cybersecurity professionals. The technical skills that once defined your success won’t necessarily prepare you to manage, inspire, and grow a team.

Cybersecurity professionals often believe more education or certifications will guarantee advancement, but leadership requires more than expertise—it demands communication, self-awareness, and trust. Great leaders know when to guide, when to listen, and when to let their team find its own path.

That’s where MiC LEAD Communicators™ comes in. Over six months and 40 hours of focused, interactive sessions, participants explore the skills, mindset, and emotional intelligence required to lead effectively in cybersecurity. You’ll learn how to build trust, delegate with confidence, and lead with empathy—preparing you not just for promotion, but for purposeful leadership.

Program Format

  • Duration: 6 months (40 hours total)
  • Schedule: Live virtual sessions
  • Frequency: Twice a month on Saturdays, 10:00 AM–1:00 PM ET

  • Start Dates: January or June (specific start date provided upon acceptance)

Commitment

  • Participation is limited. Full participation in all live sessions is required (sessions are NOT recorded)
  • If a participant misses three (3) sessions or nine (9) total hours of training, they will be removed from participation in the program and not allowed to reapply to the MiC LEAD Communicators™ course for one full year.
  • Participants are also expected to:
    • Keep cameras on during active sessions to promote engagement and accountability
    • Participate actively and respectfully in discussions and group activities

Application Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a cybersecurity role
  • Current résumé showing relevant experience
  • Essay (minimum 2 pages) describing your career journey, goals for the program, and areas for growth (used as part of the selection process)

Selection may also consider tenure in current role and level.

Pricing and Membership

  • Course fee: $5,000 USD
  • Application Fee: $100 (non-refundable, applied toward total if accepted)
  • Bonus: Non-members receive a complimentary one-year MiC membership ($249 value)
