As cybersecurity professionals grow in technical expertise, many reach a point where advancing their careers requires more than becoming a better engineer, analyst, or practitioner. The next stage of growth demands stronger leadership, communication, strategic thinking, and professional effectiveness.

MiC LEAD Builders™ is designed for early-career cybersecurity professionals who are ready to intentionally shape the next phase of their careers.

Through a structured cohort experience, participants learn to balance technical excellence with the leadership capabilities that employers value most. By strengthening communication, business acumen, professional presence, and strategic career planning, participants gain the confidence to expand their influence and prepare for greater responsibility.

Throughout the program, participants collaborate with peers, engage with experienced mentors, and develop a personalized leadership roadmap that supports continued professional growth.

Program Overview

  • Duration: 5 months
  • Format: Live virtual leadership cohorts
  • Schedule: Two Saturdays each month, 2:00–5:00 PM ET
  • Cohorts Begin: January and July (specific start date provided upon acceptance)

Program Expectations

MiC LEAD Builders™ is designed as an interactive leadership development experience where participants learn alongside peers facing similar career opportunities and challenges.

To foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration, participants are expected to:

  • Attend and actively participate in each leadership session.
  • Keep cameras on during interactive discussions to encourage engagement and connection.
  • Contribute thoughtfully to group conversations and collaborative activities.
  • Commit to the full five-month experience to maximize the value of the cohort.

Because each cohort builds on shared experiences and peer relationships, consistent participation is essential.

Application Requirements

Applicants should:

  • Have at least one year of cybersecurity or closely related professional experience.
  • Submit a current résumé.
  • Submit a cover letter describing their current role, professional goals, and why they wish to participate.

Applications are reviewed to ensure each cohort provides a collaborative learning experience for participants with similar professional development needs.

  • Program Investment: $2,500 USD
  • Application Fee: $50 (non-refundable, applied toward program investment if accepted)
  • Bonus: Participants who are not already MiC members receive a complimentary one-year MiC membership (a $249 value)
